Course Summary

This particular pathway will suit students wishing to pursue interests and career prospects in the ‘online’ digital environment as well as more technology-based solutions within the creative industries.

The Cambridge Technicals are a new generation of vocational courses developed through the exam board OCR’s links with the University of Cambridge. They are aimed at people who enjoy learning in a practical, work-related way and have been designed to provide high quality, industry recognised qualifications that acknowledge skills, knowledge and understanding of the sector, together with the settings, job roles, principles and values involved.

Thirteen units are completed over two years with an emphasis on undertaking practical assignments to evidence your understanding. The 13 units studied are diverse and span a range of Media and IT pathways including Graphic Design, Photography, Social Media products, Animation and exploration of the Games Industry. The second year has a strong focus on project based assignments in 3D Modelling, 3D Animation and Game Development.

You will find a Cambridge Technicals Media course to be both rewarding and challenging as you gain new skills and develop further those that you already have in an atmosphere that reflects the ‘real world’ rather than a classroom.

Assessment is through coursework which requires the ability to work to tight deadlines. From the very beginning of the course you are assessed at A Level standard so expectations are high, but you will receive excellent support from the dedicated team members who deliver the course.
