This course will give you an understanding of what it is like to work in business, whether for a big business in the City, a small local firm or in a business set up by yourself.

  • Many students go on to study business-related degrees. Others use their knowledge to pursue business-related careers and interests, including setting up their own business.

Course Summary

You will study topics including business objectives and strategy, entrepreneurship and global business, marketing, finance, human resources, and operations management which explores how products are made. You will be introduced to business operations and look in depth at the various functional areas needed for a business to succeed. You will look at how and why a business is set up and at external influences on success.

You should be interested in up-to-date business news stories and in watching programmes such as Dragons’ Den and The Apprentice. The course is based on exams and you must be able to apply theory and concepts to case study scenarios.
